Los jugadores de la selección brasileña que disputó el Mundial 2006 no sólo se dedicaron a jugar al fútbol en Alemania: también hubo tiempo para las borracheras y las juergas nocturnas durante la competición.
Eso es lo que dice en la prensa brasilena el mísmisimo presidente de la Confederación Brasileña de Fútbol, Ricardo Teixeira.
"Había jugadores que llegaban (a la concentración) borrachos entre las 4 y las 6 de la mañana", afirmó Teixeira en una conversación informal con varios interlocutores en un hotel en Zúrich y en la que estaba presente un periodista del diario O Estado de Sao Paulo.
El presidente de la Confederación, siempre según la versión periodística, afirmó que el clima festivo con el que llegó la selección al Mundial también terminó afectando el rendimiento del equipo cinco veces campeón del mundo en la cancha.
Brasil, que llegó con la etiqueta de favorita, se tuvo que ir a casa antes de tiempo, eliminada por la Francia de Zidane en cuartos.
Teixeira se refirió al clima de fiesta que caracterizó la fase de preparación de la selección en la ciudad suiza de Weggis, en la que los hinchas pagaban hasta 100 dólares para ver a los futbolistas dando vueltas en la cancha.
"Era obvio que eso no iba a funcionar. ¿Cómo fue que nadie se dio cuenta de eso?", se preguntó el dirigente sin citar a ninguno de los miembros de la comisión técnica ni a ningún jugador.
Enseguida, según el diario, reveló que la decisión de escoger a Dunga como el sustituto de Carlos Alberto Parreira como técnico de la selección obedeció a la necesidad de imponer disciplina en el equipo.
"Por eso es que es necesario imponer disciplina y ese el papel de Dunga", afirmó.
Críticas a Ronaldo El presidente de la Confederación también criticó el peso con que Ronaldo se presentó en la selección brasileña antes del Mundial: "¿Cómo es que un deportista puede llegar a una Copa pesando 98 kilos? Yo peso casi eso y no soy un atleta", afirmó el dirigente según las declaraciones citadas por el diario. Igualmente dijo que no desaprobaría la posibilidad de que Dunga se abstenga de convocar a Ronaldo, hoy en el Milán italiano, para futuros partidos. "¿Con cuántos años está Ronaldo hoy? ¿Con cuántos años estará en la Copa de 2010? Es apenas eso lo que tengo que decir. Tenemos que encontrar a otro Ronaldo", afirmó.
